![]() ![]() #NORMAN BATES MOVIE MOVIE#In retrospect, there are several other films that could be worthy of a place in that argument, but for the sake of brevity, I will only focus on how the movie connects with Bruce Wayne/Batman from a psychological standpoint as well as touch on a bit of the musical aspects of the film to help make the connections between the psychologies of Batman and Norman Bates. ![]() A few months ago, I even did a “Frank” presentation about Batman, Hitchcock’s “Psycho” and Rod Serling’s classic 1950s sci-fi show “The Twilight Zone” on CBS and how together, they make the trifecta of horror. What is so amazing about this film that I realized even more profoundly the last time I watched this movie in CineClub last week was how much Anthony Perkins’ Norman Bates and the world of the Bates Motel reminded me of Batman and Bruce Wayne and the world of Gotham City as well as the isolated world of Wayne Manor and the Batcave. ![]() The music is an important part of what makes this movie so wonderful but I think I gave you a good bit of an idea of how music works in film from my last post. It wasn’t so much that it was scary more than it was just a fascinating movie to watch and get sucked into. I love this film so much and I remember seeing it for the first time over the summer with my dad and being entranced by it. What a perfect movie to watch on Valentine’s Day, right!? I think so. Last week on Valentine’s Day in my CineClub class we watched one of my favorite movies, Alfred Hitchcock’s classic slasher/horror/thriller flick “Psycho” from 1960 starring Janet Leigh as Marion Crane and Anthony Perkins as Norman Bates. Don’t worry, this post will be shorter I promise! ![]()
